Luister: Cursive - The Sun And The Moon

Het uit Omaha, Nebraska afkomstige Cursive is sinds jaren al een vaste waarde op het Saddle Creek label, zoals ook Conor Oberst's Bright Eyes dat is. Op 7 februari verschijnt nieuwe album I Am Gemini en op het eerste liedje The Sun And The Moon horen we ineens de rammelende, lo-fi indiepop kant van de band. Die zagen we niet aankomen. Wie houdt van bands als Pavement en Weezer zal zich voorheen niet zo gauw gewaagd hebben aan de band, maar mag dat nu toch best eens doen. 

"I Am Gemini is the surreal and powerful musical tale of Cassius and Pollock, twin brothers separated at birth. One good and one evil, their unexpected reunion in a house that is not a home ignites a classic struggle for the soul", aldus het begeleidend. Zo pretentieus klinkt Cursive echter niet op The Sun And The Moon. Fijn liedje hoor. Vooral dat zanglijntje de hoogte in.
