Beastie Boys' Hot Sauce Committee Part Two 3 mei uit, hoor nieuwe tracks
Een interessante vraag anno 2011: kunnen de Beastie Boys het nog? Na ingewikkelde strubbelingen rond een nieuwe plaat en Adam 'MCA' Yauch die de tijd nodig had om te genezen van keelkanker, volgt op 3 mei het antwoord op deze vraag, als het trio nieuwe plaat Hot Sauce Committee Part Two uitbrengt, een volgens de eerste berichten hiphop getinte plaat - voor het eerst sinds To The 5 Boroughs uit 2004 - met samples en raps.
'Part Two?' horen we u vragen, 'waar is Part One?' Ingewikkeld verhaal met als grote lijn: Hot Sauce Committee Part One stond gepland voor 2010, maar bleek te veel nummers te bevatten. Dus werd een deel twee bedacht. Maar de release werd door Yauch's ziekte uitgesteld en uiteindelijk afgesteld, met de belofte dat Hot Sauce Committee Part Two zoals gepland op tijd zou verschijnen, in het voorjaar van 2011.
Maar wat staat er dan op Hot Sauce Committee Part Two? Wel: ....blijkbaar de zestien nummers die in eerste instantie altijd al voor deel één waren bedoeld. "Strange but true, the final sequence for Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 works best with all its songs replaced by the 16 tracks we originally had lined up in pretty much the same order we had them in for Hot Sauce Committee Part 1. So we've come full circle."
Ach, we hoeven het ook allemaal niet te precies snappen, als de Beastie Boys op leeftijd na hun goeddeels instrumentale plaat The Mix Up uit 2007 nog steeds maar kunnen vlammen.
